December 2021 Story 27: Christmas Day
First
things first, we missed having Nanma and Poppy here. They were in Rocky looking
after the pets, and in particular Doggo and our little cat Misha. Misha is
diabetic and insulin dependent so need extra care at the moment.
The
Christmas Day was pretty cool. The girls were not the usual tsunami of present un-wrappers
like previous years, instead starting slow, going gradually and playing with
toys as they went. The first presents to open are of course the Santa ones. Did
Satna and the Elves get the messages and all the notes and letters? Did they
manage to make the awesome pressies etc. There is still so much anticipation
for those presents. Nali had a series of notes and cluse and the girls went on
a mystery present hunt around the house to find the gifts. It was fun and
lasted for a good part of the day. There were specific times when the envelopes
had to be opened and they ranged from cash, cupcakes hidden in the fridge, Legos
and things like that. The girls got lots of scientific and crafty activities
this year so Aunty Sarah was kind enough to supervise and control the mess.
Christmas
dinner was lots and lots of different curry centric dishes. We make our own pakoras
and this year had a giant pumpkin plant take over the backyard. Pumpkin is not
a favourite here in this house so we picked all the flowers to batter and fry
them. They were Nali’s favourite part, mine too and a bit of a delicacy. We
managed to get a large bowl full.
The
girls played games the whole day, one game was a large board game with playdoh
that you mold into poop shapes and as you roll the dice blindfolded you are at
risk of stepping in! Let’s just say it caused some giggles. The other
activities were based on science or making your own nail polish and things like
that. Even though we didn’t get anymore Christmas Lego we got lots of Harry
Potter and Winne the Pooh themed Legos to make. The big present this year was a
big study set up for Nali back at her place and the girls got a laptop each to
study at home. A good day and we slept very well!
