Pieces of Play Saturday: Playdate

This project has been a challenge. So 8 weeks later I'm now on the way to finally finishing it. The promt is PLAYDATE and the story is our day playing mini-golf. We have had public holidays and becasue we work from home most week days it is really easy to stay home and just get another workday done. Lucky for the girls we decided to do something different and get out to have some fun as a family.

There were three different stories I could have told. One where Kaiya in her kindness had befriended a girl from a different culture, country and state and moved to Wynnum. One where these two girls have formed a freindship with someone older than themselves at school, who is an only child and a Harry Potter Fan and thinks there is something magical about siblings (and she is right almost 100% of the time). One where Kirra has a friendship that endures, not only because of a reciprocated cuteness with another little girl, but because it's the friendship where she has found her voice as an advocate. They are beautiful stories, of us joining other families for playdates but also they are other peoples stories as well so I'll keep them in our little house for the time being.

Our playdate as a familiy is a rare one, which is kinda silly because we live in one of those places in the world where there is an incredible day trip in an hours drive in any direction. Something poped up in my social media about Mini-Golf in our old neighbourhood, Mt Gravatt, so I was there. Technically every Hole is designed to potentially be a Hole In One but we only got one each by the end of the day. It was so much fun though and it was really good to get out and about. Ironically I'm sitting home writing this blog post / story on a public holiday instead of going out with my kids to play but there is a balance to things in life and rest is one of those things that is the opposite to work and play.We had so much fun. We took score, and moved our bodies, and enjoyed the music and the snacks in our beautiful old neighbourhood.

Play may not be all of who we are, but it certainly is a lot of what we do.So forever, let's remember the victory dances from the day!
