Pieces of Home 2022 Prompt 1: Table

In our home,

Our kitchen is the hub.
The table is the heart.

When we built the house we knew we wanted to open plan and the kitchen was the centre. We didn’t quite imagine the table would be so far in the centre of the room but if it’s a big space for TV watching versus a big pace for eating and sitting together, the kitchen wins.

This table is important, it supports Michael’s love of cooking, it is a place for communication, for being with family and friends, and is where we make a family community. It is central. It holds the remanence of the day, nic and knacks, and items that have to go to their tidy places and homes.

This table is mostly covered in stuff, we are productive, and creative, and frankly untidy, so it needs a lot of attention sometimes. When it is clean it is awesome. So veery awesome that the girls want to dance on it!

The table is a popular scene for events like dinner parties, Dinner parties, crafty creations,
It’s only been three years that we have lived here and that’s mostly been during the pandemic. We hope there will be a lot of stories around this table and many more wonderful memories to be made.
