Pieces of Home 2022 Prompt 2: Clean

Clean. Talk about trigger words. We have traditions, we have routines, we are productive, we stay busy, but cleaning is not a routine here, it’s a chore. It’s the cause of arguments. It’s a really hard for us to prioritise. There area a few words that come to mind, clutter bug, chaos, overwhelm. Exacerbations such as too much stuff’ and ‘never enough time’. Seriously there is no good story to tell here.

To be kind to us hard working parents and learning and growing kids, it may not be a topic we enjoy but the girls have a beautiful set of habits to tidy up their room, and help with the house. It’s also quite amazing to see the beautiful food that comes from this kitchen. It feels so good when the house is tidy and we have done some cleaning. Some days it’s so great it feels like going to a hotel, and when the Google lights are on it can also be pretty magic.

We try to find ways to make it fun and play the Tidy Up Rumba kids song on Spotify. Our little robot vacuum and mop are pretty cool. We call them Freddie and Elsie. We are also in love with our dishwasher, washing machine, having a laundry space, and every inch of this beautiful, and often very dusty and lived in home.
