December 2021 Story 15: Pressies Under the Tree

Christmas is exciting for two little girls at 5 and 7. This Christmas has seen a crazy number of packages from Amazon and all around arriving at the house. It’s a bit scary to think of the amount of cardboard and courier miles have gone into this Christmas. It’s a bit of a COVID thing. The girls didn’t get many pressies this year but by the time the Godparents, Aunties and Uncles, Cousins and Grand Parents send a little gift there, it all adds up. Some of the photos are of the girls rushing for the door when doorbell rings. All blurry but capturing the excitement.

Until this year the presents have been very safe. Untouched. The girls have been particularly awesome knowing that Christmas will be here soon and they can open them on Christmas Day. The other thing to note that they have usually had an idea as to what some of the presents were but this year there were some big ones under the tree that tested their discipline but also sparked their curiosity. They were shaking the presents gently to guess what they all were. It was funny, they were still pretty much in control, just checking them gently and leaving some surprise for later.

The main presents that the girls got from us were laptops they can keep in their bedrooms on their desks. They cut a deal with Santa for Harry Potter Hermione Dolls and Hermione magic wands. He delivered. There was also a lot of craft so a lit of rainbow mess everywhere. But that is another story.
