December Story 19: 24/12/2020 Christmas Eve / Yeppoon

When we travel, even when we visit family, we try to approach it like a tourist like holiday. We make a list of everything we want to do and we work down the list and structure each day to fit in as much as possible. Today was the day to check out the Yeppoon Lagoon. It is fairly new and the Café was celebrating by giving out free sunscreen and coffee cups. It was incredibly beautiful, and incredibly windy, and despite the sunscreen we applied our skin still got bitten by the sun. We swam for hours and the pool has some really big depths. There were life savers on patrol, and loud speakers playing music.

Of course, we still had a swim at the hotel when we got back home, of course! Nali and Aunty Sarah joined us for dinner at our place and we watched a stage production of the Grinch. The girls were wiped out and ready for sleep early but still had a late night (for standard for a 6 year old and 4 year old).

Then it was Christmas Eve, and Satna and his elves planned a little surprise for Kaiya and Kirra to wake up to. We left a drink out and cookies, and had previously left a note to say that we would open presents at Nanma and Poppy’s place the next morning. The surprise was candy canes, and Lego wrist bands. Spoilt. Fun. Magic.
