December Story 10: Thursday 10/12/2020 Poppy’s visit

It was a major surprise to have Poppy stay with us for two nights this month. Nanma and Poppy had been looking to buy another car for a while now and this week it happened. The airlines had opened up flights again from Rockhampton to Brisbane so Poppy flew down to pick up the new purchase and drive home. We were lucky enough to have a couple of nights with him and breakfast at a groovy place called Dramanti that is tucked away in our suburb. Poppy was over for the same night as my Christmas dinner with work colleagues so it was lovely for Michael to have some back-up instead of solo-parenting. When the Jards are here we talk about family updates, politics, and the things that excite us. At the moment we are exploring veganism which is really exciting and have been watching the world and it’s citizens making decisions that affect the planet, and wanting to make personal decisions that make it a better place. It was interesting to hear of the Community Organisations Boards that Dad is now on and the work he is doing for Murri Court, an organisation that Nanma has been involved in for many years. It was so lovely to have a catch-up, the kind that used to happen when Poppy needed to travel for work. Very short, always staying up late talking, very fun. Never enough photos, always a lot of talking and listening, and never enough time!
