27/06/2014 It changes you (A retrospective post)
Hello Muma here,
Michael came home last week and said that a colleague asked him what he had been up to lately. He thought about it and realised, that to many people, life seemed pretty boring. It involves waking up, going to work, coming home, cooking tea and trying to get the baby to sleep. Just hit REPEAT. This morning I said to him that essentially our baby girl is our passion now. Quite honestly it has to be, the amount of energy required to give a little human being the best start in life and ensure that they will have a positive impact on their community is seriously a big deal. It is so exciting to see her grow and just hang out for cuddles and kisses (Oh yeah did I tell you about Kaiya's kisses! Man! The best thing ever!). Michael agreed that it isn't boring to us.
This morning Michael said that some things had changed. Before you would hear bad things happening to children and you would think oh that is bad. Now it really hits you, it gets really hard to handle. It really hurts, because you really get how precious and incredibly vulnerable and fragile they are. It changes you. Parenthood really changes you.
I no longer have tolerance for gratuitous violence on TV, it has no pleasure or fascination in it for me, not that it ever had really, but now I really can't take it.
Last night I said to Michael before going to sleep and I'll say it again. This is the best thing we have ever done! There is this intense love! Kaiya is so awesome. She is so gorgeous. She is a Superstar.
Well that is the end of my soppy writing. Man I really need to get back to work LOL! Anyone need a strategy document written or a procurement plan! A contract to be negotiated even!!!!
