27/05/2014 Trip to Lismore Airport - the place to be

Hello all,

I had a big weekend and one of our activities was heading out for a drive to Lismore.  It was my first interstate trip to NSW.  We got a call from Uncle David who lives in Wagga saying that he was flying out of Lismore Airport at 1:30pm and would be at the airport for an hour if we were interested in going for a drive to meet him.  It was about 2.5hours down the road so Dad thought we should go for it.  Dad also knew that Nan probably didn't know so we should keep it a surprise.  We passed a lot of interesting things like vibrant local markets, and it was hard not to pull off the road to see them. Mum and Dad kept telling Nan that they were interested in the airport as there are a lot of cheap flights and they wanted to see how far away from Brisbane it was.  They had never been to Ballina and Lismore and Tweed Heads and were always told by Brisbane locals how wonderful these places were instead of stopping off at the wonderful Byron Bay. Nan must have thought they were crazy to be checking out the Lismore Airport.  It was so little and not particularly  exciting.  It was so funny!
